Result of negotiations on AV translation agencies’ collective agreement approved
Hanna / 17.5.2022
The parties to the collective agreement for audiovisual (AV) translation agencies have approved the solution reached in negotiations on 20 April. Salaries will increase by 2% over the contractual period.
The collective agreement will enter into force on 1 May 2022 and expire on 30 April 2023. Minimum salaries and fees as well as other remuneration in euro will increase by 2% on 1 May 2022.
Working group to monitor impact of machine translation
Under the new collective agreement, a dedicated working group will monitor the impact of machine translation on AV translators’ work, speed, quality and working conditions throughout the contractual period. This work was already begun in the previous contractual period.
In addition, during the contractual period a dedicated working group will examine the gradation of fees set out in appendix 2 to the agreement. The aim is to ensure they match the current situation, as the AV translation field has changed since the terms of the appendix were written.
The parties to the collective agreement for AV translation agencies are, on the employee side, the Union of Journalists in Finland, the Akava Special Branches trade union, and Language Experts (Kieliasiantuntijat), a member association of the latter. On the employer side, the parties are Pre-Text Oy, the Rosmer International cooperative and Saga Vera Oy. Iyuno Finland Sub Oy, which had been a party to the negotiations, withdrew from the proceedings, citing ongoing business restructuring.
The collective agreement applies to the companies’ salaried employees and freelancers with employment contracts.
